'Daktari' star Ross Hagen dies at 72

Hagen, a regular on the 1960s TV adventure show "Daktari," passed away on May 7 in Brentwood, Calif., after a battle with prostate cancer.

The actor made appearances on TV Westerns such as "The Big Valley" and "The Virginian" in the mid-1960s, and also co-starred with Elvis Presley in "Speedway."

He is best known for playing hunter Bart Jason in "Daktari," about an animal-study center in Africa.

Hagen also went on to write and direct, helming "Time Wars" and "The Media Madman."

He is survived by his partner, Lee Srednick, and a son and daughter, according to Variety.com.

In a morning full of roaring ovations as royal family members and other VIPs arrived at Westminster Abbey, few received such loud applause as Princess Beatrice, 22, and 21-year-old Princess Eugenie, daughters of Prince Andrew, Duke of York, and Sarah, Duchess of York.

Perhaps it was because the pair wore gravity-defying hats, as is the custom. But one of the hats has taken on a life of its own, with a dedicated Facebook page that now has 78,000 followers at last count, and more than a few cries of "ridiculous."

The tan Philip Treacy creation stood apart, in height as well as form, from the 36 other hats the designer made for the royal wedding. "British women are gutsy...I take my hat off to them," wrote one fan.

The two are fifth and sixth in line for the throne and are rarely seen in public. According to the BBC, Beatrice served as an extra in "The Young Victoria," a film about her her great-great-great-great grandmother, Queen Victoria. Eugene, who describes herself as shy, doesn't like discussing her life as a princess. She is currently a student at Newcastle University and also gives time to the Teenage Cancer Trust.


According to Us Weekly, Beatrice may be the next royal to marry. She is dating Dave Clark, "the son of millionaire Richard Clark, who works for Richard Branson at Virgin."

Prince William and his new wife flew out of Buckingham Palace Saturday after tying the knot in a dazzling display blending centuries-old royal tradition with the private moments of any young couple.

But they did not fly off to their honeymoon, the couple has decided to stay in Britain this weekend, palace officials said Saturday.

William, who married Middleton on Friday in an opulent ceremony at Westminster Abbey, plans to return to military duty as a Royal Air Force helicopter rescue pilot in Wales at the end of this weekend, which includes a Monday holiday, officials said.
They will go on a honeymoon to an undisclosed overseas location later, officials said, stating that this is the couple's "personal preference."

The palace has not revealed where in Britain they have gone for the weekend. The couple are thought to be seeking privacy after the intense media focus on their wedding.

Earlier, officials said William has scheduled a two-week leave from his military duties for the couple's honeymoon, but no specific dates or locations have been announced.

Official photographs of the newly wed couple taken by Hugo Burnand, above and to the right, were also released Saturday by Clarence House, where William's father, Prince Charles, lives.

The prince and Kate Middleton, his 29-year-old girlfriend of nearly a decade, married in London's Westminster Abbey on Friday in a ceremony that captivated the world.

A million cheering people tried to catch a glimpse of the newlyweds as they rode from the abbey to Queen Elizabeth's Buckingham Palace in an open-topped carriage. One newspaper estimated the worldwide TV and online audience at 2.4 billion people.
